Carnivores

In chapters 22-33 in The Burgess Animal Book for Children, Old Mother West Wind begins teaching about the order of Carnivora.  Among these animals are weasels, foxes, big cats, bears, and many more. Below you’ll find each of the animals Burgess mentions in the book. Click on the picture to find out more about each animal.  Thornton Burgess refers to some of these animals by name, which I put in parenthesis.

*Very few public domain photos (or those with allowable usage rights) exist of the hog-nosed skunk, so the image here is not high quality.

*Burgess discusses the sea otter in chapter 40 “Mammals of the Sea.”  I’ve included it here since the sea otter is in this family.
