Chatterer the Red Squirrel

Chatterer is an American red squirrel.  Red squirrels are smaller in size than gray squirrels and have less bushy tails. They also have a white ring around their eyes and may or may not have tufts of fur on their ears.  They communicate with various sounds and often have an angry-sounding chatter when intruders are near (hence the name “Chatterer”). Their long tail helps with balancing and steering as it jumps from branches and trees. It also serves as a blanket, helping keep the squirrel warm while it sleeps. The red squirrel has long, curved claws that also aid in climbing. Its hind legs are strong, giving it the power it needs to jump.  Surprisingly, red squirrels are omnivores, not only eating nuts and berries, but also feasting on bird’s eggs, frogs, insects, and other small animals.
