Blacky the Crow

Blacky the Crow is an American crow. American crows are smaller than a common raven, in both stature and beak size.  Although often depicted with yellow beaks, crows have both black beaks and feet.  They are thought to be very intelligent birds and are very sociable.  They are problem-solvers and can easily chase away larger birds, like hawks and owls.  Don’t be mean to a crow!  Research shows that crows don’t forget a face and will teach other crows how to identify mean humans.  Crows engage in a behavior called “anting” where they sit atop an anthill and allow the ants to crawl over them.
